PLACES TO VISIT #1 – ACROPOLIS

Our hotel is located at a point where historical masterpieces are located all around us. Undoubtedly, the most striking of the historical monuments around us is the Pergamon Acropolis.

This historical structure, which has survived for thousands of years and was included in the UNESCO World Heritage list in 2014, was home to the Altar of Zeus, one of the few historical structures in the world. However, in the 1930s this altar was moved to Germany.

The kingdom founded by Philetairos in 283 B.C. and continued its existence strongly for 150 years. Pergamon Kingdom came under Roman rule upon the will of Pergamon King Attalos the Third and became the capital of the province of Asia.

City of Firsts!

Bergama started to take shape under the influence of Christianity with the loss of power and division of the Roman Empire in the B.C. 3rd. Bergama has been exposed to Arab raids for many years. Bergama, which joined the Menteşe Principality at the beginning of the 14th century, became Ottoman lands by Orhan Gazi in 1345 and the Turkish period began in the city.

The amphitheater is one of the most visited places in the Acropolis. Although thousands of years have passed since the construction of the amphitheater, which has a very steep structure, it still holds the title of the steepest amphitheater in the world.
